In the 1st Test match, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Both the openers were dismissed quickly but next up was Cheteshwar Pujara, who played a solid knock of 90 runs. Later, Shreyas Iyer joined the party by scoring an unbeaten 82. India ended up with 278 runs at the end of day 1 but lost 6 wickets in the process.
